EEC Lincolne Scott successfully completed the design and supervision of all the building engineering services for the Harrow International School, built on a green field site located in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand.

The International School of Bangkok’s new performing arts block is located on the site of the International School of Bangkok’s main campus at Soi Nichada Thani, Nonthaburi.

Facilities include a theatre, visual arts and humanities area, storage, band rooms, practice rooms, drama rooms, dance rooms, chorus rooms and a basement car park.

EEC Lincolne Scott was assigned for MEP services, with specialist divisions within the group appointed for ESD design.

Features of the building include occupancy sensing lighting and air conditioning, which minimises electricity consumption. Optimisation of day lighting and energy efficient lighting was also employed to reduce electricity consumption from lighting.

Efficient refrigeration equipment with reduced refrigerant charge was selected to minimise ozone depletion. The air conditioning system is designed to to deliver a 30% improvement in outdoor air rates against the required standard.

A building automation system which monitored energy performance was also installed to provide ongoing feedback and opportunities for continual energy performance improvement.

To reduce potable water consumption and sewage conveyance, high efficiency sanitary fixtures were installed and on-site wastewater treatment was implemented to treat all black & grey water to tertiary standards for reuse for flushing toilets and irrigation. This provided enough water for not only the cultural centre, but also for other buildings within the International School of Bangkok campus.

The completed development is 5 storeys and approximately 6,700m2, and in achieving LEED for Schools Gold Certification, was the first building in Thailand to earn this award.
